Requirements

The Boat Inn, Aboyne is a boutique Scottish Inn located in Aberdeenshire. Our client was looking for a new website to replace an outdated existing site that wasn’t mobile friendly. Primal Space were tasked with creating a new design that had a modern feel. While at the same time providing a user friendly experience to those looking to book a stay or get in touch about a restaurant reservation.

Firstly we worked to create a modern design that that would accurately portray the business online. Opting to use a full screen image above the fold with a prominent booking button. While keeping the content across all pages quite minimal. Ensuring that the images and text provided took centre stage within the design. Using the blue brand colours of The Boat Inn as a design feature throughout.

One of the key requirements of the new responsive website design was to include the integration of a booking calendar. As well as social media integration which included an Instagram feed on the homepage of the site. This plugin allows the image gallery to update regularly. While other image galleries are also presented across the various pages of the site.

The full page menu pop out creates a unique feature within the design. Keeping the header area slick and minimal. Moving away from the old design which was quite cluttered and distracting for the user. While tap to call functions allow the user to get in touch quickly from a mobile. A contact form is also included.

The new site was built on WordPress for it’s user friendly interface. Which therefore would allow the client to update the site themselves ongoing with new content as and when they require. Whether that be changing images, adding new events or new PDF menus for the restaurant and bar.

Primal Space also provide the client with managed website hosting on our secure UK servers. As well as ongoing support. Like all sites designed by us here at Primal Space, this design is fully GDPR compliant. Ensuring it’s safe for users and meets UK web safety standards.
